+1 for the Weller WLC-100, it's perfect for any soldering you are likely to do on a bass or guitar, and relatively cheap. Not necessarily a "pro" level tool (although I see them in plenty of Pro electronics repair videos), but unless you solder all the time, it's more than sufficient at 40 watts, with adjustable heat.
