In case it is a neck dead spot, you may try a Fender Fatfinger . At the very least, I know I've read that a lot of dead spots are determined / ruled out by trying something like this. Yes! Same principle for wolf notes, I almost went nuts adjusting pickups on a bass only to find out that the f# on a was a wolf note, putting one of those headstock tuners on it reduced the warbling.
