Mates with standard ¼" plugs and is available with 0.25" inside diameter bushing.

I will agree that mixing an active and passive signal together can cause issues. Having said that, what Rickenbacker does is use a switching jack so that the signal passes through the switching to the TRS jack when nothing is plugged into the switching jack.
