For your consideration, I offer a Broughton Low + High Pass Filter, AKA "LPF/HPF." I purchased this directly from Broughton a couple of months ago for $170 as a "B-Stock," ... ... more

Get a HPF (high pass filter) - it cuts everything below the frequency you set. Makes your amp sound much louder and less muddy since you won't be using most of the amp's power pushing muddy frequencies below 50hz for example. Tightens up your tone too. This one's great and also has a LPF: [link] ... more

Yep can definitely help. Although I am blessed with a drummer with great restraint, I also find these soo useful to deal with other muddy predicaments. Namely, clubs with bad sound either the PA or the room. i use the simple one [link] Although, it might seem counter intuitive to roll off bass frequencies to make the bass ... ... more

My HPF is the last thing in my chain, generally set to 35-40 htz. Dumps out and subbtonic stuff from my octave pedal etc. if i was buying again (when, who am I kidding) I would get a combo HPF/LPF to really reign in the signal range [link] ... more

I picked up a HPF/LPF about 6 mo ago and put it at the end of my chain. It was a game changer! Not only does the HPF clean up the low muddy stuff (especially live through a cab) but the LPF tames any extraneous string noise and high end. In the studio it has been successful as a sort of speaker emulator too. Can't recommend ... ... more
