Always On High Pass Filter
Description
A standard Broughton high pass filter with the bypass switch removed. This design allows a more compact layout, fitting on a single pedal board rail, or even mountable underneath a pedal board. The high pass filter is a 12 dB per octave low frequency filter. The knob controls the cutoff frequency and ranges continuously from 25 Hz to 190 Hz. It has the same frequency points as the switched version, but it does not have the frequencies printed around the knob.

The last post is correct! A high pass filter will filter out the extra low sounds you can not even hear. Your speakers will be be much happier. Check out a, [link] It is money well invested. I use one every time I play. ... more

That's not a good solution for an amp that's way too small for the player's expectations. A HPF can only help so much. It's kind of like putting a bandaid on an amputation. ... more

Yep, a high pass filter will probably help. But you might want to buy the version with a bypass switch, so you can A/B the effect the pedal is having as you adjust the cutoff frequency. ... ... more

If this only happened at this one gig, and hasn't been a problem before, it's obviously something about the room and/or your cab's location in it -- not a problem inherent in any of your gear. My recommendation would be an adjustable high-pass filter (HPF) that would allow you to cut out the frequencies below a chosen level ... ... more

I seriously doubt it. The video says "no battery", which means it's a passive circuit, which probably means it's a simple capacitor circuit, which means it operates at a fixed frequency. What you want is an active filter, with an adjustable knee frequency that can get you down into the bass frequency range. Like this Broughton: ... ... more

I sounds to me like you basically need two effects loops, one for 'normal' effects and one for ambient ones. Also the input to the ambient effects loop should be high-passed. You want to switch between these loops. Each loop should have a DI to FOH. Some things are not clear to me. So I am going to assume this: - You want ... ... more

Hey so actually it's simpler than all that. I never need both loops in parallel, only one or the other engaged at time, but just have it be the case that the one that's not in use is muted. And the only time I want an unaffected tone going to the board is when I have no pedals engaged, so I don't think I need a DI at the ... ... more

Yep can definitely help. Although I am blessed with a drummer with great restraint, I also find these soo useful to deal with other muddy predicaments. Broughton Always on HPF in new condition. I absolutely love the Broughton HPFs and LPFs (and the combined HPF/LPF). I ordered this one for a new bass pedalboard without thinking about the fact that the preamp on that board has a built in HPF that works quite well. As a result, this HPF has only been plugged in for the minute ... ... more
