Very interesting! But does it actually work? I mean, none of the string strings you mentioned are actually made for a bass. Have you actually tried this? In addition to the need for a piezo+preamp I suspect there must be other issues that would at least require some minor modifications to the instrument? How will this affect ... ... more

For a bassier-sounding acoustic, what about trying other string types on your regular ABG? I got the best, most woody-sounding deep tones from my El Capitan by using black tape wounds. I think they were La Bella, but D'Addario's work pretty well, too. I found I could dig in harder before they started to clank and fret out. ... ... more
